Surah Al-Falaq – The Dawn

Al-Falaq (Arabic الفلق, “The Dawn”) is the 113th surah of the Quran. It was revealed in Mecca and has 5 verses. It begins in Juz 30 on page 604 of the Medina Mushaf.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

113:1

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ

Qul a'uzoo bi rabbil-falaq

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn

113:2

مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Min sharri ma khalaq

From the mischief of created things;

113:3

وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ

Wa min sharri ghasiqin iza waqab

From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads;

113:4

وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ

Wa min sharrin-naffaa-thaati fil 'uqad

From the mischief of those who practise secret arts;

113:5

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Wa min shar ri haasidin iza hasad

And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy.
